German Immigration Law

Visa Matters

As a German immigration lawyer, I provide immigration advice to domestic and foreign individuals, businesses, or investors.

I assist clients in applying for all kinds of German visas, in particular:

  • family-based visas
  • employment-based visas
  • longtime-resident visas

Feel free to contact me for a first free consultation. I will lay out the requirements of the visa, assess your individual circumstances and make a recommended plan of action.

Dual Citizenship

As a German immigration lawyer I am specialized in obtaining german dual citizenship (German/American)!

I assist with the process to retain your German citizenship by applying for a retention certificate ("Beibehaltungsgenehmigung") with the German authorities. Once you obtained the retention certificate the naturalization application can be processed in order to become a US citizen.

  • Are you are a German citizen, and have had the Green Card for 3 years (if obtained through marriage) or 5 years (if obtained through work)?
  • Have you lived in the USA for more than 20 years?
  • Have you considered becoming a US citizen for personal or job-related reasons?

I am happy to assist you in preparing the application for the retention certificate  (“Beibehaltungsgenehmigung”) using the correct wording. and to ensure that you hold the retention certificate (“Beibehaltungsurkunde”) in your hands before you apply for U.S. citizenship.

Regaining German Citizenship (Wiedereinbürgerung)

As a German immigration lawyer I advise on all questions regarding the process of drafting the reasoning for the application to re-gain your German citizenship and submitting the application.

  • Did you become a U.S. citizen after January 1, 2000, without obtaining the retention certificate (“Beibehaltungsurkunde”) first?
  • Do you have German ancestors and want to know if this allows you to apply for German citizenship?

Contact me and we will assess your chances to regain German citizenship.
